چکیده

This paper deals with the qualitative analysis of a model describing the competition between tumor and immune cells. Such competition is characterized by proliferation–destruction phenomena and the interacting entities are characterized by a microscopic state which is modified by interactions. The model also includes the description of the natural trend of immune cells to reach a healthy or sentinel level, even when they have been involved in the competition with the tumor cells. The model is developed in the mathematical framework of the kinetic theory for active particles. c © 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Estimation of the Domain of Attraction of Free Tumor Equilibrium Point for Perturbed Tumor Immunotherapy Model

In this paper, we are going to estimate the domain of attraction of tumor-free equilibrium points in a perturbed cancer tumor model describing the tumor-immune system competition dynamics. The proposed method is based on an optimization problem solution for a chosen Lyapunov function that can be casted in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities constraint and Taylor expansion of nonlinear terms. We...

Effects of coupling on turbulent gas-particle boundary layer flows at borderline volume fractions using kinetic theory

This study is concerned with the prediction of particles’ velocity in a dilute turbulent gas-solidboundary layer flow using a fully Eulerian two-fluid model. The closures required for equationsdescribing the particulate phase are derived from the kinetic theory of granular flows. Gas phaseturbulence is modeled by one-equation model and solid phase turbulence by MLH theory. Resultsof one-way and...

From the mathematical kinetic, and stochastic game theory to modelling mutations, onset, progression and immune competition of cancer cells

This paper deals with a review and critical analysis on the mathematical kinetic theory of active particles applied to the modelling of the very early stage of cancer phenomena, specifically mutations, onset, progression of cancer cells, and their competition with the immune system. The mathematical theory describes the dynamics of large systems of interacting entities whose microscopic state i...

A Kinetic Model of Tumor/immune System Cellular Interactions

In this paper, a model of cellular tumor dynamics in competition with the immune system is proposed. The characteristic scale of the phenomenon is the cellular one and the model is developed with probabilistic methods analogous to those of the kinetic theory. The interacting individuals are the cells of the populations involved in the competition between the tumor and the immune system. Interac...

Conceptual Paths From System Biology to Modelling Mutations and Progression of Tumor Cells

This Lecture deals with a critical analysis on the mathematical kinetic theory of active particles [1] applied to the modelling of the early stage of cancer phenomena, specifically mutations, onset, progression of cancer cells, and their competition with the immune system [2]. The mathematical theory describes the dynamics of large systems of interacting entities whose microscopic state include...
